After being defeated by the Yankees in the World Series four times in a span of eight years, the Dodgers finally broke through in a series best remembered for Jackie Robinson’s steal of home. Johnny Podres was the MVP — the first time the award was ever given — after pitching a shutout in Game 7. It was the Dodgers’ only championship in Brooklyn. They moved to Los Angeles two years later.
“You can’t give a good team like that extra outs,” Judge said. “It starts with me there in the line drive coming in, misplay that. So that doesn’t happen then I think we got a different story tonight.”

Because the Dodgers had a better regular season record than the Yankees, Games 1, 2 and possibly 6 and 7 will be at Dodger Stadium, while Games 3 and 4 and a potential Game 5 will be at Yankee Stadium.

Through two games against the Dodgers, Judge is 1-for-9 with six strikeouts. For the postseason as a whole, he’s 6-for-40 with 19 strikeouts. It’s a far cry from a regular season in which Judge’s 58 homers, 144 RBIs and 1.159 OPS made for one of the best performances by a right-handed hitter in history.
