Cat Toys Makeover: Old Catnip Toys Can Be New Again

Do you have cat toys in your home that your cats no longer play with? If they’re filled with catnip, perhaps they’ve lost their appeal due to the loss of pungency of the catnip.cat toy

In a previous post, I told you why many cats like catnip and how to dry it for future use. In this post, I’ll show you how to use freshly dried catnip to make old cat toys come alive. All you need is an old cat toy, thread, a needle, freshly dried catnip, small scissors and a little tool called a knit picker.

  • Using the knit picker, carefully remove the stitches on one side of a toy.
  • Remove old catnip inside the toy.
  • Using small scissors, cut dried catnip leaves and buds and stuff them into the toy.
  • Thread a needle with thread that matches the color of the toy as closely as possible and sew the toy closed using small stitches that make it difficult for a cat to tear the toy open.

When you’re done, give the toy to your cat and watch her have a great time with what may have one time been a toy destined for the trash.
