Eco-Friendly Option 1: Cloth Tote Bags
I love reusable cloth tote bags. They fold flat, so they take little to no storage space, and they come in a wide variety of designs. We have two cloth tote bags designs in our online shop.
The Plastic Is Not My Bag Tote comes in dark blue with green lettering. It measures 15 x 15 inches, made of 100% polyester, and holds up to 44 lbs of contents. Great for trips to the grocery store, farmer’s market, or anyplace you need to carry several things in a single trip.
Another option from our shop is the Be Kind to Animals Tote.As a vegan, this message is important to me. The bag features a multicolour graphic of cats, dogs, pigs, bears showing all are equally important, This 100% polyester bag measures 15 x 15 inches, and holds up to 44 pounds of contents. Each of these bags is $23.50 (plus shipping), with 10% of profits from sales donated to help homeless pets at KC Pet Project.
Option 2: Reusable Silicone Food Storage Bags
Another great option to reduce using plastics is a set of silicone food storage bags. These bags come in a variety of sizes, are leakproof and foods can be cooked inside the bags. They are microwave and freezer safe.. Several sets also have stand-up bottoms, making easy to line up in the refrigerator or freezer.
For cleanup, they are dishwasher safe. In addition to a variety of sizes, they also come in several colors. These bags are a great way to reduce use of plastic bags, and save money in the process!
Goodbye Detergent Spaghetti Corn Scrub
A reusable scrubber made from corn cobs? Yes, it’s true! This reusable scrubber is made from corn and comes in a variety of options: Heavy duty for Tough Stains, all purpose scrub and stainless steel kitchen cleaning pad. After use, they can be washed for another use, and average several years of use for each.
These scrubbers don’t hold doors and many traditional scrubbers do, and don’t scratch pots, pans or dishware..
Eco-Friendly Option 4: Reusable Mesh Produce Bags
The big roll of plastic produce bags in the grocery store will be in thing of the past when you opt for these mesh produce bags instead. They come in two size: 10 small or 9 mixed sizes. Bags are BPA, lead and mercury free. They’re machine washable and even better, you can put them directly into your fridge produce bings. Since the bags are made of breathable materials, they’ll help extend the freshness of non-leafy produce when used for storage.
Travel Cutlery Set
Hard to believe, but according to the Plastic Pollution Coalition, Americans use more than 100 million pieces of plastic utensils each day! An eco-friendly option to help reduce that statistic is the Devico Travel Cutlery Set. Made of stainless steel, the 8-piece set comes with fork, spoon, knife, chopsticks, cleaning brush and straws, all stored in a compact storage set. Even better, this set is now on special, (for a limited time) at 34% off through Amazon.
If each person chose to make just one eco-friendly substitute, think of the impact it would make over time! Go eco-friendly, you’ll be helping by lessening the plastic trash piles, and save money with these reusable options.
