Remembering Bo

Bo and JessieToday marks the second anniversary of my beloved cat Bo’s passing.  He was such a good friend to me, being there for me through good and bad times, I still miss him terribly.

Bo was my first cat companion.  After getting divorced and getting a house of my own, I decided it would be nice to have a pet to share it with, so I went to a nearby adoption event to see what pets were available.  Bo wasn’t there the first day I stopped by, as it turned out I found a couple of cats that seemed nice enough, but I decided to take the day to think about it and return the following day for a final decision.

Upon returning the second day, I saw an orange and white tabby boy in the first crate.  He saw me too, and began talking to me non stop.  The card on the front of his cage said his name was Bo and the rescue group estimated he was 6-8 years old.  Bo kept looking at me, talking all the while, so I decided then that I couldn’t leave him behind, so he came home with me that day.

Before adopting Bo, I’d always thought of myself as a dog person, but he changed my thinking quickly.  Very friendly and social, always chatting he wasn’t at all what I’d always assumed cats were like.  That’s one of the things I loved most about him, he changed my thinking so totally about cats, showing me how sweet and loving they are.

I was heartbroken when Bo passed away, and because he was so special in so many ways I wanted to honor him.  It took a while to figure out how to honor such a great cat, but I think in some way he gave me the answer…….a site dedicated to cats that showcases how special they are, and Fully Feline was born.

The picture that accompanies this post is my favorite of Bo with his doggy sister Jessie.  Bo, I miss you!

  1. Karen what a beautiful tribute to Bo and I am so sorry about his passing.
It is rather ironic because my first cat, my soul kitty, was named Bobo, so this really tugged at my heart.
Cat Chat is also dedicated to MY Bobo…who passed in 2007 at the age of 18. I was lucky to have had him since I found him as a stray when he was 6 months old.
How old was your Bo when he passed?
The photo of your Bo is just wonderful, what a handsome boy. I am so happy that he came to you so that you could experience the joy that is cats.
I already loved cats when I found my Bobo but he was my first cat.
    Sending you ((((hugs))))

    1. My Bo was 16-17, not sure since the rescue group estimated his age when I adopted him. I wish I’d known Bo for longer, he was so special I feel I missed out on so much with him, but so glad he found me when he did!

There’s something about Bo and Karens, huh?
