Winnie The Pooh Quotes To Brighten Your Day

winnie the pooh

Today is Winnie the Pooh Day, an event celebrated on author A.A. Milne’s birthday each year.

Winnie The Pooh and his friends were based on toys Milne’s son owned. Milne’s son was the basis of the Christopher Robin character in the Pooh stories.

They first appeared in print in 1926 and later went on to star in a series of Walt Disney movies. Here are some of my favorite Pooh quotes:

On Patience

“If the person you are talking to does not appear to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in this ear.”

Keeping It SImple

I like talking to Rabbit. He talks about sensible things. He doesn’t use long, difficult words, like Owl. He uses short, easy words, like “What about lunch?” and “Help yourself, Pooh.” ― A.A. Milne

On Keeping An Open Mind

“Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.”

Being Selfless

“Love is taking a few steps backward maybe even more… to give way to the happiness of the person you love.”

About Friendship

“Lucky we know the forest so well, or we might get lost,” said Rabbit half an hour later, and he gave the careless laugh which you give when you know the Forest so well that you can’t get lost.

Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind.

“Pooh!” he whispered.

“Yes, Piglet?”

“Nothing,” said Piglet, taking Pooh’s paw. “I just wanted to be sure of you.” ― A.A. Milne

Although Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore were very different, they embraced those differences to become great friends.

In honor of Mr. Milne, Winnie and his friends, take a few minutes today to think about all the goodness in your life. Focus on that, and know that when bad things happen, there will be something good waiting down the road.
