Gates Don’t Keep Cats Out

BlackieI went to visit Blackie today, I’m pet sitting for her while her people are gone.

Well, Blackie’s human doesn’t like the idea of Blackie on the sofa when she’s away. Blackie’s hair is black, the sofa is off white…….not a good combination.

To block Blackie’s access to the sofa, her human thought a gate across the stairway up to the sofa would work. Hmm……….in typical cat fashion Blackie found a way around it.

I looked for her downstairs since she typically hangs out there, but she was nowhere to be found. I’d finished all chores and was preparing to leave. Lo and behold, I happened to glance at the sofa and there was Blackie, nestled comfortably among the pillows in the corner. She was being very still in hopes I wouldn’t see her, I walked closer and Blackie made a run for it……..squeezing between the spindles of the staircase.

She squeezed through easily, going around the gate that was supposed to block her access. Gates to stop a cat………nah, not gonna happen!
